What You’ll Learn
Academic Session
Understanding fish families and species makes it easier to identify what you see on your dives. For example, a butterflyfish in the Caribbean may share a shape with one in Southeast Asia, but colors and markings differ. Recognizing the family allows you to look up the species or ask a local instructor intelligently.
