The PADI Specialty Instructor program allows you to teach scuba diving courses that truly interest you. Whether it’s Deep Diver, Night Diver, Wreck Diver, Nitrox, Public Safety Diver, or any of the 25+ standard PADI Specialty Diver courses, this program helps you expand your teaching range and professional profile.

Who Can Enroll

You may be eligible for specialty instructor training if you are:

  • A PADI Instructor
  • A PADI Assistant Instructor (for select specialties)
  • An Instructor Candidate in training (for select specialties)
  • A PADI Divemaster (for certain specialties)

Some specialties have additional prerequisites or exit requirements. Please consult our Course Director for details.

Pathway to MSDT

Specialty Instructor certifications are essential if you’re aiming for the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating, which requires:

  • Certification of at least 25 divers, and
  • A minimum of five PADI Specialty Instructor certifications
